Safe Surgery Initiative (SSI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides on-site surgical instrument refurbishment, capacity building, and education to medical facilities in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs).We strengthen local surgical care services. To increase access to essential surgery that could prevent 1.5 million deaths a year.

Surgical Instrument Technicians play a vital role in healthcare; enhancing the user experience by ensuring all surgical equipment is safe and in proper working condition. Technicians inspect, calibrate, maintain, and orthopedic equipment, laparoscopic instruments, and all other surgical tools found in hospitals, medical clinics, and surgical center. 143-million additional surgical procedures are needed in LMICs each year to save lives and
prevent disability. Through our refurbishment and capacity building programs we can improve the safety and accessibility of surgical care in LMIC’s hospitals.
